Ed Henry, a former Fox News reporter and co-anchor accused of raping a co-worker, is in trouble again, this time in Florida.
A sheriff’s deputy noted that Henry, the former chief White House correspondent and co-anchor of America’s Newsroom, was driving his Cadillac Escalade through West Palm Beach on June 20 “with a flat tire and metal rim loudly grinding against the road,” RadarOnline reported, adding that he was stopped and arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).
The outlet noted further: “Henry, who is the target of a pending 2020 federal sexual harassment lawsuit, was apparently unaware of the damaged tire, as he casually took a turn at a normal rate of speed, according to a deputy’s report exclusively obtained by RadarOnline.com.”
“In doing this the front driver’s (side) tire came off the rim and rolled into the eastbound lanes almost striking an oncoming vehicle,” the report stated. “That vehicle had to apply (its) brakes and swerve to avoid being hit by the tire.”
The 51-year-old Henry pulled into a Cadillac dealer and told the deputy that he went there to have the tire fixed.
“While Henry was talking, I was able to smell the odor of unknown alcohol coming from his breath,” the deputy stated on the report. “Henry had glassy and bloodshot eyes…His gait was unsteady. His speech was slightly slurred.”
The deputy’s report described Henry as “cooperative and polite,” but added that he admitted to drinking two bourbons between 6 and 7 p.m. while he was relaxing on nearby Singer Island.
The report goes on to say that Henry erred during several parts of the field sobriety test, including the “one leg stand,” the “walk and turn” and the “finger to nose” where “Henry used the pad of his finger instead of the tip on all tasks.”
It added: “He swayed during the tasked and tilted his head forward.”
RadarOnline.com noted further: “Henry was arrested even though he voluntarily submitted to an alcohol breath test that measured just below the legal limit of .08, documents show. After his arrest, Henry was described as calm and quiet as he refused to answer questions and invoked his right to counsel, the report stated. Henry’s renowned attorney, David Tarras, told RadarOnline.com he’s confident his client will beat the charges.”
“Mr. Henry cooperated with law enforcement during their investigation,” Tarras noted in a statement emailed to the outlet. “He respectfully provided a sample of his breath that was below a .08, and thus below the legal limit in Florida. “
“Mr. Henry and his legal team continue to cooperate with the State Attorney’s Office for Palm Beach County and are confident in a just result,” the statement noted further.
Fox News, generally, has seen its viewership tank following the decision to take star Tucker Carlson off the air in late April.
Last week, he provided an update on why the network took him off the air in late April during an interview with British comedian and actor Russell Brand during the latter’s podcast.
During one segment of the show, Carlson said he doesn’t know exactly why he was fired but has a good idea about it, adding that he’s not angry over the parting of ways.
“Honestly, I don’t know,” Carlson said on Brand’s podcast, “Stay Free,” the former host’s first public interview since being axed by Fox, Newsmax reported. “They didn’t agree with me, of course, I don’t think.”
“It’s not the first time I’ve been fired … when you say what you think, there’s an expectation you can get fired. I didn’t expect to get fired that morning at all, so I was shocked. But I wasn’t really shocked … I wasn’t mad,” he noted further.
“The only thing that bothers me? I’m 54. When you get a little bit older … you can lose your drive … It’s a little bit too nice,” he said regarding his now-extended vacation in Maine, which has been filled with fishing and eating late breakfasts. “My only fear has been … being a little bit too happy.”
