Ron DeSantis is in a far-off second place in the Republican presidential contest, with another contender closely chasing him in third.
According to the most recent survey conducted by Echelon Insights between June 26 and June 29, former President Trump has the support of nearly half of respondents.
DeSantis trails Trump by 33 points or 16%. Vivek Ramaswamy at third is only six points behind DeSantis, with a 10% finish that ranks among his strongest in any national poll.
Other Candidates
Trump’s 49% support is identical to his endorsement in the May version of this poll. DeSantis dropped three points compared to the previous month, while Ramaswamy gained two points
Other candidates trail behind.
Nikki Haley and Mike Pence are deadlocked at 5%, although Pence has fallen four points since May. The 4% showing of South Carolina Senator Tim Scott is modest, but it is up two points from May.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has 2% support, up from 1% last month. Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota and Mayor Francis Suarez of Miami have reached 1% support.
Other candidates have less than 1% support, and 6% of the 413 prospective Republican Primary voters who contributed to the survey are undecided.
Head to Head
Echelon also conducted a two-way contest between Trump and DeSantis. In this hypothetical scenario, the former president receives 60% support, while DeSantis is chosen by 32% of respondents.
Trump is “definitely” preferred by 44% of respondents, whereas DeSantis is “definitely” preferred by only 12%, indicating that a significant portion of DeSantis’ support stems from those seeking an alternative to Trump.
Echelon Polling results are marginally less favorable for Trump and DeSantis than the Battle to the White House average. This gives Trump 54%, DeSantis 22%, Pence 6%, Haley, Ramaswamy, and Scott each 3%.
With months left before Republican voters select their nominee to face off against Joe Biden in the presidential general election, time will tell which candidate wins.
